But if you're looking for some wedding favor ideas that are even more unique, and you're a pretty handy person as far as crafting, why not make your own custom boxes for wedding favors so they'll be one-of-a-kind.

Make Your Own Boxes for Wedding Favors

It's actually pretty easy; just follow these simple steps and you can start off with a white box that you can embellish with ribbons or decals, or you can go to an arts and crafts supply store and buy card stock in a variety of colors and themes.

  1. Find a box that's the right shape and size.

  2. Open the box up to see what size it is when opened and flattened out.

  4. Get some white card stock - or the color of your wedding theme - and trace the box on the card stock, being sure to write only the side of the cardstock that will be on the inside of the box. If you do this with pencil, you can erase the lines before you fold and glue the box together.

  5. Mark up your homemade box templates with where they need to be folded and cut; use a solid line to indicate cutting and a dotted line to indicate folding.

  6. Score the folds so they're easier to work with and it'll give you a neater looking crease and fold.

  7. Glue or use double stick tape to secure the box sides together.

  8. Optional: If you've started with a white box but you're going to use a decorative paper on it, you can glue the paper on the box before you actually assemble and glue it together so it looks nicer.

  9. After your boxes for wedding favors are assembled, place a piece of tissue paper in the bottom then add your goodies to the inside - cookies, candies, nuts or mints.

  10. Close the lid on the boxes and tie decorative ribbon around them or even wrap them in nice white tulle or organza then secure them with a ribbon.

For cupcakes or wedding cake favors, obviously you won't be filling the boxes ahead of time, so make sure you keep your boxes stored neatly for the day of the wedding.
